El Viejo Matías

Sneak peek of a personal graphic novel that draws a parallel line between war, family and emigration with dementia from the perspective of the innocence of a teenager.

An illustrated book that connects a song with a family memory: I was 15 years old when I sent an email to Victor Heredia (renowned Argentine singer) telling the whole story that my father told me when I was a child about my great uncle, a former pilot of the Second World War because we always believed (and I still believe) that behind the lyrics of the song “El viejo Matías” hides him.

The book is a search for the truth but at the same time a story that draws a parallel between war, family and emigration with dementia from the perspective of the innocence of a teenager.
It is not only my story, but that of so many other “city castaways” who walk among us, but invisible in the search for their port.
